    The Institute for Bioethics & Health Humanities (IBHH) at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) invites applications for Clinical Ethics Fellowship, part of our broader Visiting Scholars Program, which provides intensive training in clinical ethics consultation in a variety of health care settings and diverse patient populations, including critical care, pediatrics, OBGYN, etc. The Fellow will learn a relational approach to ethics consultation informed by the health humanities. In addition to their clinical duties, the Fellow will conduct bioethics and health humanities research congruent with their interests and be afforded the opportunity to teach health students and professionals and graduate students. The Fellow will increase the points of contact between the Clinical Ethics Consultation Service and patients, families, faculty, and staff at our Galveston and other campuses. The Fellowship program is tailored to meet the strengths and needs of each fellow, and involves a involves a one-year, full-time commitment with an option to extend for an additional year at the program director’s discretion.

    Candidates must have a PhD, JD, or MD (or equivalent) with preference given to candidates with doctorates in bioethics, philosophy, theology, nursing, behavioral sciences, social sciences, medicine, or law. Candidates should have strong communication skills, experience working with diverse teams, and be able to work both collaboratively and independently to achieve goals. Familiarity with patient care in a hospital setting is preferred.
