Now Accepting Monthly AJOB Target Article Proposals on EFF Topics

The American Journal of Bioethics (AJOB) is pleased to welcome target article proposals keyed to ELSI Friday Forum topics via the Center for ELSI Resources and Analysis (CERA).

Target Articles

Target articles are novel theoretical or conceptual contributions to bioethics and related fields that offer a clear rationale for the solicitation of open peer commentaries. They are essays that range between 5,000 – 7,500 words (excluding references). Successful target article proposals will make clear how the work has a substantial bearing on a controversial bioethical issue or contradicts/criticizes established research or theory. Empirical research, systematic reviews, or similar methods will generally not be considered.

Open Peer Commentaries (OPCs)

Open peer commentaries are a set of short articles that respond directly to target articles by providing substantive criticism, interpretation, and/or elaboration. If your target article is published, it will be posted for an open peer commentary call by AJOB and CERA.

Submission

To submit a target article proposal related to an EFF topic, email your title, author list, and a 150-200 word abstract to Deanne Dolan at [email protected] by the second Friday of every month. Selected proposals will be notified by CERA about two weeks after the submission deadline. Peer review ready manuscripts must be submitted within six months of the notification date. Acceptance and publication are contingent on peer review, editorial review, and revisions. See submission deadlines table below for more details and contact Deanne with any questions.
