Medicaid coverage practices for approved gene and cell therapies: Existing barriers and proposed policy solutions

Allen and colleagues describe how discrepancies between the legal requirement to cover all FDA-approved drugs according to their medically accepted  indications and the coverage policies of 16 state Medicaid programs and 3 Medicaid Managed Care Organizations prevent patients from accessing new gene and cell therapy products and propose federal policy solutions to improve patient outcomes and equity.
