Through the lens of queer theory, Jamal and colleagues explore how imprecise practices for collecting sex and gender data and conducting genomic research have contributed to the stigmatization of transgender and intersex people, prevented them from accessing evidence-based health care, and subjected them to discriminatory public policies.
