TraineeHub - Understanding and Applying for NIH K-Grants
Session title: TraineeHub Workshop: Understanding and Applying for NIH K-Grants
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Research Career Development Awards, commonly known as K awards, provide funding to support research training and mentorship to prepare postdoctoral and early-career scholars for independent research careers. These awards can offer funding and opportunities to support the independent career development of emerging ELSI scholars. During this event, we provided an introduction to two types of NIH grants for research training and career development, covered some basics of the grant application process, and explored the purpose of the K99/R00 and K01 awards. A panel of K award recipients shared their firsthand experiences navigating the grant application process, offered practical advice for prospective applicants, and reflected on the impact these awards have had on their research and careers.
