“I Have Data, I Have Science Behind My Treatment Plan”: A Comparative Qualitative Study of Clinician and Patient Views and Experiences with Pharmacogenomic Testing for Depression

ELSI • GC Exchange, hosted by The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine, is an educational series designed for genetic counselors. This series provides a unique opportunity to earn Category 1 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) while exploring various Ethical, Legal, and Social Issues (ELSI) pertinent to genetic counseling.

In this talk, attendees learned to compare different definitions of clinical utility and personal utility, as well as explain how different understandings of personal utility may view pharmacogenomics for depression.

Physician Attitudes Toward Pharmacogenomics Pre- and Post-test Survey

A pre- and post-test questionnaire that measures changes in the knowledge and attitudes of physicians who have been administered pharmacogenetic testing is available in the supporting information section of the linked publication in both English and Korean. The survey includes items for demographic information, clinical history, attitudes towards adverse drug reactions, experience with clinical genomics, attitudes toward and experience with pharmacogenomics, price expectations for pharmacogenomics testing, and interpretation of the value of the pharmacogenomics report.
