    Abstract

PROJECT NARRATIVE The recent explosion in biobanking, more routine collection of data on gender identity, and rapid expansion of research in transgender and gender diverse (TGD) populations has afforded both an opportunity to study whether gender identity has genetic underpinnings, and a time sensitive need to inform how such research is used to benefit and not harm TGD populations. In partnership with and guided by an Executive Stakeholder Board of diverse TGD community members, advocates, clinicians, and ethics, legal, and genomics and health equity scholars, we will explore potential risks and benefits of studying genomic associations with gender identity, host a summit to develop guidelines and recommendations for such research, and widely disseminate our findings. Our team will continue to serve as a national network to provide consultation and leadership in the expanding field of genomic research related to gender diverse populations.
